Bright Chevron packing seals also known as V packing seals are highly adaptive sealing products of standard rubber that comprises of rings of multiple V shaped lip seals that have been stacked vertically between reinforced header and compression ring to form a complete packing assembly. They are assembled with a reinforced backing ring to assist with extrusion resistance and with a compression ring that is used to impart axial squeeze on the chevron packing thereby imposing a transverse strain and energizing the packing. One important benefit of the vee packing is that it can operate under any mechanical situations. V shaped rings can be one or more as per requirement. These V shaped intermediate rings are tapered to snap-fit the housing during installation, thus they provide a good seal even at low pressures.

Vee pack sets are multiple-lip (chevron) seals, usually composed of a male and female adaptor and a group of three or five vee rings, are popular for sealing rods and pistons in medium to heavy duty applications and are compatible with both single and double acting cylinders.Vee packing is a highly adaptable sealing product. It is typically used in adjustable gland applications such as telescoping truck hoists, pumps and valves. Vee packing sets are composed of a top and bottom component with a varying number of center vees. Vee packing can be optimized by altering materials to accommodate different chemicals, temperatures and pressures. Bright Seal & Packing presently stocks Female and Male Adapters (top and bottom) in fabric reinforced nitrile and V-Rings (center rings) in fabric reinforced nitrile and in homogeneous 90 Durometer nitrile*. In general, fabric Vees are for high pressure, and homogeneous Vees are for low pressure. The selection of fabric or homogeneous compounds should be made on the basis of operating pressure, temperature, and the type of gaseous or fluid medium with which the packing must function. Properly installed Vee Packings will generally outperform other lip-type seals. They are always installed in sets. Each set contains a number of V-Rings (based upon the pressure) plus male and female adapters.
The V-Rings in each set are referred to as pressure rings. Refer to the table below to determine the number of V-Rings per set based on solid rings. This table applies to the majority of installations. There will be exceptions, depending upon special operating conditions, where the table guidelines do not apply.
